UTTRAKHAND TRAGEDY

 

UTTRAKHAND TRAGEDY:

On 7th february 2021 a glacier burst in Chamoli .

At  joshimath (chamoli) a part of NANDADEVI glacier broke off in one of the districts of uttarakhand The tragedy of this outburst led to a fear of 2013  disaster in a state . 

Since the day grew up it was noticed that there was a huge flood acrosing in the lanes .

Let us discuss why this happens.?

According to scientists glaciers can burst due to climate change or development of climate . Also it can burst due to some erosion , excessive water pressure or due to earthquakes under the ice .

Coming back to uttarakhand tragedy 

The Chief Minister ( Trivendra singh )of Uttarakhand has announced a Financial support of 4 lakh to the legal heirs of the deceased.

ANNOUNCEMENTS DONE BY PM 

1. Moreover the Prime Minister ( Narainder Modi ) has announced an Ex-gratia of 2lakh to the legal heirs of those who have lost their lives . 
2. He also added that he will give 50000 RS to all the injured victims from

PRIME MINISTER NATIONAL RELIEF FUNDS (PMNRF)

He himself is monitoring the condition of chamoli and has assured a complete health facilities to all the residents .

DAMAGES CAUSED 

• Due to the rise in water level the residents near the bank of the Chamoli river were requested to leave their house and go to some secure place.   

• Rescue operation has been started 

       Currently they are focusing on rescuing  30-35                      

Workers trapped in the tunnel .

       

With the help of JCBS AND POKELAND machines, the rescue team cut debris clogging in the tunnel to rescue the workers .

• Many individuals are missing due to flash floods.

• 12 workers were rescued  while 30 are still trapped in tunnel no.1 near Tapovan confirmed by Indo - Tibetian Border Police (ITBP).

• Rescue operation in the second tunnel has stopped due to rise in water level . 

It has been noticed as a damage to Rishiganga Power Project in Tapovan Area . 

 

There are chances of damage to Rishiganga project in Rini village in chamoli due to heavy rainfall and sudden water . 

Moreover there are chances of flooding in the lower areas of Alaknanda due to the arrival of water in the river . 

Almost 13 villages near Tapovan have been hit by the flood after the glacier broke . 

Around 5 bridges have been washed away due to the disaster. 

It has seen that the NTPC power plant has been damaged . 

The chief officials have shown a fear of 100 labourers working in power plants .

It was found that a Mother and her baby were also killed , 2 houses were washed due to glacier burst .

WHERE AS OTHER PARTIES MINISTERS CAME OUT WITH A HELP 

Sonia Gandhi has requested all the party's leaders , workers, volunteers to help the people who have been hit by the massive outbreak.

Uma Bharti  said it is a matter of concern as well as it is a warning. 

PM Modi said that we stand with Uttarakhand and provide all the necessary help needed. 

The Minister of Union Tribal Affairs has said he is deeply saddened by this natural disaster .
